The Early Years Team here at Our Lady of Hartley have recently been part of a collaboration with KCSP and the Parental Engagement Network, which is a community interest company helping schools and settings to develop their parental and community engagement.
One of the projects that we will be running is ‘Mouse Club’ which is a home-school partnership project. From July 2020 we are going to be delivering home learning activities for both parents and children in our Early Years setting. This will be an opportunity for parents and carers to meet school staff (via zoom) and work as partners in their child’s development, sharing their knowledge of their child, their strengths and aptitudes.
Our aim is that over the summer all children, starting in September, will have had the opportunity to take part in this project. Each child will receive a special Mouse Club starter pack which includes their very own cuddly mouse, a scrap book and other useful resources.
Mouse Club will run over the summer holidays with videos, resources and activities to be set via SeeSaw.
The aims of this project are to help staff build positive relationships with families. To help parents understand how they can help their child get ready for school. To give parents the opportunity to develop their confidence and skills to support their children’s learning.
We look forward to rolling out this exciting new project and meeting all our new children in September.
